Keeping Pets Cool during the Balmy Summer Months

My husband and I live in the beautiful southern United States. While we wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, we sometimes get excruciatingly hot during the summer months. We aren’t the only ones that get hot at our home though. Our beautiful dog Lucy also gets hot. I’m constantly searching for effective ways to keep her cool while she’s outside. And during the winter, it can get oddly cold at times. Do you have loving pets at home? Consider purchasing a small plastic pool for your pets to splash around in. And when it's cold, make sure to monitor them very carefully while outside. On this blog, I hope you will discover ingenious tips to help you care for your pets during any extreme weather.

Buying A Poodle? 2 Tips To Make Things Easier For You

Pets & Animals Blog

Poodles are great dogs and they shed very little. Because of this, they are great for people that have allergies. There are things you can do to make your life easier with your new dog, two of which are listed below.

Take to a Groomer

Poodles have natural curly fur and can easily become tangled. Because of this, you need to brush your poodle regularly and keep the fur trimmed to make things easier. If you do not take care of your dog's coat their skin can get sores that will require a visit to the veterinarian. Your poodle can also lose their hair and it can be difficult to remove big tangles and mats as the dog has sensitive skin.

Instead of doing the trimming yourself take the dog to a groomer. They have experience working with poodle fur and will know the right way to do this. There are many styles a groomer can give your poodle. If they are a show dog, how they are groomed is important. If your dog is only a pet, you should choose a more basic trim to make things easier and your dog comfortable. The groomer can show you the different styles to help you make the right choice.

Take the poodle to the dog groomer every few weeks. Try to take them to the same groomer each time so that they will get comfortable. Along with grooming the groomer can trim your pet's nails.

Get Enough Exercise

Your poodle will be happiest if they get exercise each day. Break the time up, such as part of the exercise in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. Because poodles come in a range of sizes the amount of exercise they need depends on the size they are. For larger poodles go on long walks and for smaller poodles go on shorter walks.

If you have a fenced-in backyard this is the perfect place to play with your poodle no matter what size they are. Put toys in the backyard to keep them entertained and play ball with them. If you have a dog park nearby this is also a great place to play with your dog. Dog parks are beneficial as this gets your dog used to being around not only other dogs but people too.

Take your poodle to the veterinarian for regular checkups and immunizations to keep them healthy. The vet can give you many more tips on keeping your poodle happy.
